Turner Heart II - 131
Each Houston Llew is carefully handmade using a series of intricate stencil techniques. From the beginning, Houston’s vision for his enameled artworks drew from the beauty of simplicity. He sought after an imagistic theme for his work rather than pursuing the abstract often seen in other enameled wall art. The image is just the beginning - each piece is paired with a quote around the sides to create an inspiring story through words and images in glass.
"i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)" - e.e. cummings
This poem is often described as one of the most talked about poems in modern times. Cummings focuses on the power and unity of love, and how it connects not only the two individuals in that relationship, but the world at large. This tile, with his bold stylistic heart encasing a similar heart, is a subtle and powerful expression of the speaker in this poem; he is completely in love with his significant other and feels such a unity with the heart of the significant other, that the experience is one of holding another heart inside the one we already have.
